Director Aleksander Kott has fashioned another superb film with Insight. The story revolves around ‘Pavel Zuev’ who has to learn how to live his life over again after an accident leaves him blind. As he tries to piece his life together, learning again how to walk, wash, dress and eat he meets a hospital nurse (‘Nadezhda’) who helps him through this difficult time of adjustment. As their relationship deepens, the key questions of what gives us strength as human beings and purpose in life are cleverly and movingly interrogated. This is a beautifully filmed drama which conveys a real warmth, energy and wit. It also boasts a simply stunning, career-defining performance from Russian theatre actress, Agrippina Steklova. The director Aleksander Kott will be in Kilkenny.
