    Director: Martin Pieter Zandvliet
    Original Title: Dirch
    Language: Danish

Main Cast: Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lars Ranthe, Lars Brygmann

Dirch Passer was second-to-none on the Danish scene, in revue theatre and on film. He was in the league of Dean Martin, Lenny Bruce, Andy Kaufman. But he was also blinded by his own success, and he let down his family, his children, his best friend and not least himself in his efforts to be seen, understood and loved. Nikolaj Lie Kaas gives the performance of a lifetime in this touching and wildly entertaining portrait of a brilliant but tortured popular artist.

The Bottom Line:

This film is worth seeing for Nikolaj Lie-Kaas’s astonishing performance alone. But throw in some fabulous period production design and great comic set-pieces and you get a standout biopic of real class.
