A brilliantly irreverent Belgian road movie, The Independent described Aaltra as “Belgium’s answer to ‘Little Britain’… ingenious, bitter and hysterically funny”. Co-directors Benoît Delepine and Gustave de Kervern take on the lead roles of the feuding middle-aged neighbours, who have both been paralysed from the waist down following an agricultural accident – one very much brought about through their own stubbornness and bad behaviour. Despite their mutual antipathy, the wheelchair-bound duo embark on an epic journey across Europe in an attempt to track down and claim compensation from Aaltra, the Finnish manufacturer of the faulty tractor that caused their injuries.

The Bottom Line:

Very funny, politically-incorrect comedy… It just doesn’t get any blacker than this. Possibly best described as ‘Grumpy Old Men on Wheels’, this is a little comic gem.
