    Original Title: Á Annan Veg
    Language: Icelandic
Writers: Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson
Main Cast: Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson, Hilmar Guðjónsson, Thorsteinn Bachmann

In the remote north of Iceland in the mid 1980s, Finn and Alfred, two employees of the Icelandic Road Administration, spend the summer painting lines on the winding roads that stretch out to the horizon. With no-one but each other for company, the barren wilderness becomes a place of adventure, disaster and discovery as both men find themselves. This is an incredibly endearing film; Variety called it a “…beguiling character-driven dramedy”. Sigurðsson’s feature debut, this charming picture announces him as a talent to watch.

The Bottom Line:

Frustration, camaraderie and jealousy are at the centre of this delightful Icelandic drama set in the 1980s. The key relationship (two workers who paint lines in a deserted road) is beautifully observed and is what makes Either Way special. Performances are top notch and the stunning cinematography is a worthy third character.
