Frozen Land starts off with a sacking and ends with a shooting. Its plot is a droll chain reaction of mishaps and mistakes; its characters a band of alcoholics, depressives and deadbeats who blow up like bonfires.
At times this brilliant tragicomedy plays like a Finnish version of Magnolia or 21 Grams in the way it spotlights the disparate lost souls who criss-cross each other as they make their way across Helsinki.
